Battle Sages

I've seen a couple of them in action, but since I know almost nothing about them, I have some doubts. I hope you guys can answer them:
1. What are they supposed to do in PvP/WoE enviroments?
2. How do you level up them with, from mage to sage, and eventually, how do you hit 99?
3. Are they worth the effort playing them without any linker buff?

1, In PVP with Link ont hey are pretty deadly with xxx~950 matk. With a Linka nd AAr they can get pretty crazy!
2. For me I got Fwall as a mage and leveled in Stings like any other mage. Now I am going from TI or ID2. Most Sages, when they can flee ice Titans they head to ID3 where the exp is great.
3. I don't think so. I have a laptop and a SL I am married to on it and honestly I don't think I would play one if I didn't have that :-/

Still they are tons of fun. With double bolt working on Scholars now and with the new books coming they could be pretty good damage dealers even in WOE witht he right gear. Still, in WOE FS Scholars>hindsight

I leveled like a nub - in Louyang! Used Firebolt and Firewall mostly to level. Some geographers too.

Towards the end I mostly leveled in High Orcs. It's extremely slow, but nobody said making one was easy! I also had tons of Abyss parties back when those were all the rage.

Depending on the build, the possibilities for leveling places are almost endless. I made my battle sage almost 2 years ago before I really knew much about the class and unfortunately my build is a bit screwy (I'd give it to you, but my account isn't active atm and I don't remember xD)

I do, on occasion, have access to a link, and it is super awesome to play around with - but nothing beats having a great battle build and doing things the old-fashioned way!

To specifically answer your first question:


Dispel is great for debuffing enemies + LK's on your team that need out of Frenzy.
Spell Breaker really pisses off people!
Land Enchants (if you get them) are great (or even ME if you get that too (I had level 1 (which is still useful!) for a while, and it helped a lot in situations)).
Firewall always helps, or if you get Safety Wall instead, that too!
and last but not least, Heaven's Drive and/or Stone Curse is always helpful!The sage is less a super help like a Priest or Bard/Dancer, and not really a killer, but more a side support - and a very useful one at that!
