Best methods to pet catching

I want to catch a few pets I'm missing and I'm trying to find out what is the best way or what you guys do.

Only thing I know is get them down to the lowest HP (1) possibly, but do status ailments help or what about quag?

But seriously, there is no best method, you dont have to attack the monster, you dont have to hit it to low hp, its just luck.

Anyone know a chart where it lists the % of chance then for each pet? All I have is this one, but I'm not sure to believe it:

I'm not sure if this helps, but I used ~130 bapho jr tames awhile back, and I got the bapho jrs down to lower than 1/5th hp. Out of 130 tames, I got 2 eggs.

I've tamed quite a few isis... out of about 20-30 tames, I've gotten about 5 eggs. Most of the eggs came from the isis I weakened, except one.

Maybe you got better chances if you practice a lot so you know the best moment for clicking the slotmachine.

I very much doubt the visual effect of the slot machine has anything to do with the result, just a random animation.

The animation is pointless.No doubt most of us here have clicked on the damn "Success" image a hundred times and the slot just moves to fail anyway.

My friends went on taming Alice once, and then brought me along as I have HW with sense. Of all Alices we encounter [and captured, later], we reduced her HP to 1, and by 24 taming items, we got 5 eggs, enough to split for each one of us [there were four of us], and giving the rest for the one who invested all the taming items.

The day after, the same person who did all the taming slotmachine-clicking told me that he bought another plenty of sway apron, and then attempted to tame Alice without weakening her first, and he completely screwed up. None of the taming items was successfully made into egg.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence, but at least I came up with one conclusion, that 1% base rate for Alice taming is a bit too bad to be true. My fella can't get 5 out of 24 if it weren't for more-than-1% chance or weaking-does-affect-successlevel.
