View Full Version : You request minimaps, I post minimaps

Dishonru

Simple thread concept. You request a minimap and I post it. We'll start with all the new guild forts. I can do anything, but if you want something kRO only I might be lazy.

If you don't request water/snipable tiles on/off I will show them.

If you don't request a zoom in of a specific area I'll show the whole map.

If you want the most efficient path from point a to point b tell me, and I will post one with a path.

These maps can probably be used with the RO client if you make them a bmp, but it may be off by 1-3 cells because it requires slight modification to make them fit currently.

geff gd (note: server still using years old version on iRO, most snipable are not snipable)
http://ragial.com/minimap/gld_dun04.png

and for fun, a custom map made by the creator of brow edit with my pathing put in:

http://ragial.com/minimap/maze.png

That maze takes nearly 9 minutes to run through with almost speed pot move speed. Solve time with my A* implementation: 9ms

If you have any suggestions feel free to post those too, this program needs some work still.

I wouldn't mind the ayo maze map, without snipable ledges and the most efficient way through (while avoiding the pits).

Another feature that I'd be curious to see implemented would be a circular pathing which would cover the largest area of the map while walking through each area only once if possible. (i.e. for someone who wouldn't tele-level, what's the most effective path to cover all the map without going through the same place more than necessary)

This is the path that it found to be the quickest, but I did not use the modified ayo_dun01 that marks the death tiles as unwalkable. How ever, the pits are only at the four corners. It walks through a pit near the very end (top left) and at that point you can stop before it, or walk around it.

If anyone wants the program: here (http://ragial.com/minimap/mapgen.zip)

If you try to mess it up you probably will. There are a few bugs. You need to manually shift the map one up two right usually for it to line up in game, but it's not always that amount. If you try to mess up circle/pathing placing modes you probably will. I coded this program in one day and it was mostly an adventure in learning how to properly load structures from files, some basic opengl junk, and the bitmap file format which is documented surprisingly poorly on the internet (although msdn saves the day, as always). Lawl i went there once. Asked the GM nicely and he sent me.

This might be bit offtopic too, but you said you could use these maps as minimaps in ragnarok client with some modification. Would it be possible to insert the bowling bash gridlines to the minimaps and align them correctly to make leveling with bb easier ?

Pred
06-18-2008, 09:18 AM
From what I remember, yes. If I remember correctly, you have to unpack the Data.grf file, find the old minimap files, and replace them with the new ones. It's been years since I last looked into this, so I completely forgot how to actually do these steps, but it was something along those lines.

Thyrial
06-18-2008, 08:43 PM
yes in order to do that you would simply have to find a grf tool and replace the old minimap images with edited ones that have the BB Grids on them.

Editing the grf is against the ToS, there will be an easier and LEGAL method to display BB grids soon, stay tuned. :stir:

Also what's with the .fld2 files? Some kind of temp buffer to get the bmp or something?

Ya I read the readme, DLed the field maps. Thanks for the tip, might wanna include that in the readme =)

Also what's with the .fld2 files? Some kind of temp buffer to get the bmp or something?Nope. It's a format that will replace fld eventually. I posted in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dev forum about it, but we never got around to implementing it. Internally everything is in the fld2 format. It converts fld1/gat+rsw files to it. .fld2 files won't be what's used, it will just be .fld, but for now that's how it stores it.

The biggest difference is it uses bit flags for tile types instead of arbitrary numbers. This allows a few neat rendering tricks in the map gen, and it allows much easier&efficient pathing/ai stuff.

fld2 format in more depth:

fld (plain old), note 6-7 types that have no numeric relation

//TILE_NOWALK 1,2,4,5,6
//TILE_WALK 0,3
//TILE_WATER 2,3,4
//TILE_SNIPE 4,5

struct FLD
{
unsigned short width;
unsigned short height;

unsigned char* block;
};

fld2, five tile types that can be combined at will to describe tiles
#define TILE_WALL 0
#define TILE_WALK 1
#define TILE_SNIPE 2
#define TILE_WATER 4
#define TILE_CLIFF 8

#define TILE_LOS 3
#define TILE_HASWATER 5

struct FLDtwo
{
unsigned int index;
unsigned short width;
unsigned short height;

unsigned char* block;
};
I see. Alright, thanks. I would've just asked you for what I'm looking for but it'd be easier to just do it myself. I take it you just haxxorzed my accounts? (OH NOES) lol

Thanks for the app, it's helped alot.Nope. I think the source is up... somewhere.... or maybe it's not, because the program is written really badly (especially all the hotkeys/file stuff). The one on the site was written from scratch in less than a day.

The cave is part of one of the new quests that came with the Satanic Morroc update, The Crow Of Destiny Quest (http://irowiki.org/wiki/Crow_of_Destiny_Quest). Nothing much in there but a handful of NPCs (i think one sells flowers) and a cool hidden room you can only access during/after the quest (top left section).

You can sneak past the npc if you walk towards the door and when you receive the pop-up just wait for it to time out instead of pressing enter right away. If you give it enough time a cancel button will appear in the bottom right side of the pop-up window. This also works for the house in Juno with the female doctor NPC.
