Hi all,

I wish to tap the knowledge of the experienced battlesmithys.

Which will be better in comparison?

1. 2h Axe (higher attack but less defence)
2. 1h Axe (lower attack but higher defence)
3. Mace (Same as 1h Axe)

To my knowledge... I only know of 2x2x for UG. But should it be in a Axe? or Mace?

Also, is it worth getting an ele swdmace set for smithys?

An advice would be appreciated.

Thanks~

What is your STR? Also do you have access to converters or endows? AGI VIT or Hybrid?

You could use a 2H Axe (Battle Axe[4] mind you, not Two-Handed Axe[2]) if you flee easily and avoid mobbing too much but a 1H Axe is usually a better choice since you'll want to mob Bathories whenever it's possible. Maces have lower ASPD than Axes and end up doing less damager over time, so we can rule them out.

An elemental Swordmace set isn't really needed. You'll want at least 1 elemental weapon for Whispers but the other places you'll level in will end up being better exp if you use a single endowed carded weapon rather than multiple elemental weapons.

EDIT: I assumed you have 120 STR. Maces end up better at lower STR I believe.

I would use a 2ha if you plan on tele killing things one by one, maybe with occasional mobs (this is how I tended to level in Sphinx 4).

If you plan on mobbing, though, go for an Axe [4] so you can wear a 30% reduction shield. Maces are the same thing except with lower aspd.

I'm going for:

Str = 94+16
Agi = 78+2
Vit = 44+6
Int = 3+2
Dex = 38+12
Luk = 1+2

The only stat mods I'll be using will be 1 mustle, ewe and sups

And nope I dont have access to converters to endows easily. I do have a mate that could endow/convertors but really dependant on whether he is on or not.

Taken from Doddler's calc:

+10 Double Bloody Double Boned Mace

Minimum Damage 686
Average Damage 695
Maximum Damage 704
Damage Per Second 1639.15
Minimum Number of Hits 8
Average Number of Hits 8
Maximum Number of Hits 8
Average Battle Durration 3.39s

+10 Double Bloody Double Boned Axe

Minimum Damage 666
Average Damage 675
Maximum Damage 684
Damage Per Second 1654.41
Minimum Number of Hits 8
Average Number of Hits 9
Maximum Number of Hits 9
Average Battle Durration 3.67s

Even when taking into account the ASPD loss from the Mace, it ends up being better than the Axe using your build. It's the opposite if you get 10 more STR.

As for elemental weapons, well, if you can't get endows and wish to level somewhere that needs elemental weapons, then yes, elemental Swordmaces are a possibility. Fire and Ice are the most commonly used, there's not really a need for wind and earth.

hmm seems 1h axe i guess..

I used to use 2h axes but the damage taken isnt nice. I do prefer the defence provided by the 1h + buck.

At my current lvl and build, where then will be good to lvl pre-UG?

Current lvl = 70

Str = 58+12
Agi = 67 + 2
Vit = 24+5
Int = 1+2
Dex = 28+9
Luk = 1 + 1

Thanks again for ur kind advice ^_^

oo food for thought. I was typing the previous post b4 seeing this. hmm....

You could go to UG at your current level if you wish. Just bring an Evil armor and a cartful of Fresh Fish, Berserks and Fly Wings and you're set. Sure, you'll probably spam a lot of healing items but the rewards are worth it. Just wing from the Jokers and the swords.

He can't use Berserks yet due to the fact that he is only level 70. Bring Awakes instead.

i have all 4 elements of swordmaces. i typically don't enjoy relying on endows (though i do have VS element weapons if endows are available), i also enjoy partying all the time. going down to AL means changing elements all the time. Race chains just don't cut the damage against high level elemental enemies (160% VS 175%, and the swordmace has higher atk).

even in HOs, i use elemental swordmaces. it kills the archers faster.
