Ok so, WB10 question.
25 hits?
25 cells of water?

121 hits, 121 cells of water. Or, however many cells of water you're surrounded by - say you're surrounded by 70 cells of water. It deals 70 hits.
It's pretty much an extension of how many cells of water you're surrounded by. It's the next highest odd number of the level squared. Of course, I also believe that it's a 10s cast time. /hmm

So the overall damage is just increased by the hits right?
Or the matk% increase with skill level too?
Inspir

Yes, there is also a matk% increase with skill level.
The actual formula is this. MATK×(1+0.3×SkillLv)

whats the cast time on WB10?

Didn't they recently nerf this? I kinda wanted to go INT/dex stalker but then I heard so much rumors about not being able to copy waterball 10 anymore ... Like you could only copy lvl 5 max. Has anyone tried lately and is there some kind of accurate info about this?
Even if its nerfed, you can still copy WB 5, which is very very damaging and with low cast time. In Geffen GD it is awesome. And also SG, GC, BB spam with high dex, LoV/JT in Ice Dungeon, ME, whatever...

Even after the very intelligent people claimed it was nerfed I went and copied WB10 from drake on my 1int stalker. It works fine still.

I might be wrong on this one, but I recall the last discussion about waterball concluding that you can copy waterball 10, but the levels after 5 only increases in matk, not in the ammount cells it draws water from (and thus ammount of hits you're going to do). For example waterball level 10 would be 25 shots at 400% matk ea hit (every level gets 30% increase in matk).

Does it matter since unless you are walking the plank on the seven seas there won't really be xxxx number of cells of water surrounding you.. The magic atk is what I want :D

i was thinking of that. Wouldn't it hurt like hell having no buckler on though? Although i guess the priest can mob instead...
still able to copy it in 11.2 :|

That's why you get an angeling card. ;D
(trufax story: One of my guildies was on his int/dex stalker a month or so ago. So, we're defending, and...I believe Impulse comes in and tries to take us. He uses Grand Cross, and drops himself in one hit.
I lol'd. But he was only 70 at the time, anyway, and I remember how much my HP sucked with 15 vit at 70.)

You still take a good bit of damage even with holy armor from the recoil.
Yeah, i included GC but its more like one of the last skills a stalker should preserve. Too much damage taken from recoil, usually an int/dex stalker doesn't have the vit for it. Its just... for fun. A stalker friend used to copy it for levelling, but he always had an HP with him. I mobbed, he killed, the HP went crazy trying to heal us both.
Inferno Nightblade
09-20-2007, 01:14 PM
The HP consumed to cast it - which, again, is different from the recoil damage, and probably what you're thinking about - is only 20% of your max HP, I believe. This, on a stalker, is probably less than what it would be on a paladin or even a crusader.
As I recall, angeling renders you immune to the recoil. Which is doubly good on a stalker, as he also lacks Faith to halve the recoil damage. That's probably what's going to drop you - and certainly what dropped my friend.
Though I do agree. Not only do you have to factor in the probability of owning yourself without AR (and possibility of owning yourself with AR), the SP cost makes me cry. lol 100 SP./wah

Is WB10 the single strongest skill a player can use?
Assuming Deluge's 20% bonus, several ninjas covering all the outer tiles with hidden water to fulfil the 121 tile requirement and all buffs on?
Inferno Nightblade
10-01-2007, 08:19 PM
...Actually, it might be. If it hits 121 times, that's 48,400% magic attack. Add on the bonus, and it becomes over 60,000% matk. (So, in theory, 12 full SG10s in one go.)
The only problem is it can't be lexed. Which isn't a problem because good luck trying to outpot that without aqua. (Maybe zeph, but you're going to chug a lot of pots/spam a lot of heals.

mmmm... I should go get WB10 on my Rogue and go to Gef GD. Be all YEAH TAKE A 1 INT WB10 BIATCH -dies to Grimtooth- "aww :("
StealthFire

With 1 INT, you wouldn't be able to overcome their INT-MDEF, and probably get a lot of misses :P
either that or 121 hits of 1 dmg
if lvl10 actually does 121 hits, would that mean 11x11 cells of water is needed to do that many?
ive heard rumours that some cells of water are deeper than others. would that mean 25 hits in a 1x1x25(length x width x depth)cell if its true?

I actually had this feeling too.
There some place in Geffen GD if you're in water near the actual ground the dammage is weaker.
I might be drunk too.

Just theories but : I reckon WB10 scans 11x11 tiles around you and counts how many of them have water on them, then consumes the deluge/hidden water tiles before launching WB10.
Also, since the damage for WB is calculated in real-time, and deluge tiles disappear before WB becomes active, does the wizard/stalker lose the 20% water damage bonus from deluge?

I was using waterball 10 in AL1 to hunt for ferus cards. I have about 90 int and I noticed that when I did use waterball on a ferus I attacked it enough to kill a ferus twice. Reason is, sometimes you kill one and it will spawn nearby you. But the waterball keeps going even after you killed it the first time and continues after it respawns next to you without having to cast it again. It might be even more than that, but since its never spawned next to me twice in a row I have no idea.

They did nerf WB10 for a few patches. You could not copy it, and would just get Lv5. This was on Sakray and I cannot confirm whether or not it was ever added on Chaos, but it has been back in game for about a year now.
A few things I've learned/seen regarding WB10:
- Every time I used WB10, specifically when it went the whole way without killing a mob or the mob respawned and I got to see it complete, there was no insane increase of hits to 121. In fact, the duration seemed to be pretty much the same for levels 5~10.
- Cast time is very long even with high DEX, so when I needed 2 hits to kill a mob I mostly would key WB10 and WB6.
- If you don't have enough water around you, or cast WB too close to a shoreline/map-area that is tagged as ground, you will execute a lower level of WB when your cast completes. This means you will still use 0 SP and have the longer cast time from Lv10 just when the WB pops out, it could be reduced as far as WB1 (done it, its utterly annoying to have just 1 ball pop out after that long cast because I stood in the wrong spot).
- The 0 SP Cost and MATK bonus seem to be the main benefit.
Questions I never quite found an answer to myself:
- Whether or not WB10 actually requires 11x11 cells of water. Honestly, because of the whole "uses a lower level if there isnt enough water" thing, half the time I wasn't sure if I was casting Lv10 or if it was just casting level 7, 8 or 9 behind my back. The damage is still pretty high up there and if I'd paid super close attention I could have figured it out. Could be proven with deluge, perhaps.
- If it doesn't consume 11x11, and, say, all levels 5~10 consume 5x5 tiles, then the moment you fall below 5x5 does it jump down from Lv10 to Lv4? You would think so, but should probably test to double check?
I'm also not a fan of GC on a Stalker. Then again, I'm not a fan of Stalker PvM to begin with because mine is so shitty at that aspect of RO.

It doesn't fall in levels, just water tiles = number of hits, giving the illusion of a lower-leveled waterball. No SP cost is sex tho.
What level WB can you one-shot a green ferus with?

You mean Red? Green is weak to fire property attacks.
Inferno Nightblade
11-04-2007, 03:32 PM
Hm. I thought it would add on hits, and I thought it would also have a linear progression in SP cost.
Shows how much I know. =X
Maybe it just ends at 25 for players? Still, that's pretty impressive; what should be two full SG10s on someone for a somewhat shorter cast time and less cast delay. (Unless I'm bound to be corrected again and it's the same damage modifier as WB5.)
Again, with the GC thing, don't do it if you don't have an AR. Nothing is more embarrassing than pwning yourself while trying to pwn someone else.

Base or total? I only found it as-good-as easier methods (at best) with INT gears on for 77 total INT (and The Sign + Baz of course).

Why don't you try sensing it? Have a wiz/sage accompanying you, sense before and after WB 10 [well, pressumably 10], calculate the difference and divide it by average damage on each hits. That should give somewhat reliable answer.

Assuming the Stalker has higher-end INT to begin with, throw in Mind Break and INT Food and you have a feasible idea. At the same time, I'd say with Amp a HWiz with those same buffs (Mind Break and INT Food) is still a better bet anyway, assuming you have HWiz to spare outside of AoE Precasting.
In a pinch, I'd say it'd be a welcome boost and would do in a lot of people, but probably the ones you'll want to take out (aka people who will survive an initial precast anyway) are smart enough to have something on hand to deal with WB (Unfrozen+Marse+Valk Shield alone cuts by more than half, not to mention Ocean/Typhoon Unfrozens).

I would love to see a stalker use this. Seems like the build would be tuff to level tho.
I played a Waterball 10 int-stalker on Sakray about a year ago and from what I tested, Waterball 10 has:
1. MATK bonus
2. 5x5 cell consumption / 25 hits
3. You can no longer get the skill (not from Drake atleast)
Even in large water areas (Geffen GD / 4 Deluges in PVP), it only consumes a max area of 5x5 cells.

So just wondering, sorry for the old bump, but can you still get WB10 or no?
Swifthand

You can. It was taken out (at least on Sakray) for a patch or two but I have gotten it within the last year from Drake and used it successfully to level in AL. Successfully being a relative term. My INT isn't too hot.
