So!

The Touhou Project is a relatively known series of japanese computer games, very popular among the danmaku fan community.

Each game is set on the fantasious land of Gensokyo, and you play as one of the maidens, witches, youkais or other entities that guard it's shrine against the forces of evil...

It's pretty interesting, finishing the game on the Lunatic difficulty set is a task not for many, and facing the Extra Stage might keep you awake for a couple of hours before giving up (until next morning hehe).

The bosses don't have huge life-meters, your character isn't too hard to be controlled, the music is good, the graphics are nice and everything. But, the real challenge is: dodging the bullets. Yep, a boss in the Lunatic difficulty might shoot more than a thousand bullets simultaneously on the screen. You get extra points if you graze them (your sprite touches the bullet, but it's hit-point doesn't).

Well, anyway... Anyone plays or is interested in S'eUs?

I play Touhou shmups... though I'm not that great yet. Even so, I managed to get the good ending for Mountain of Faith fairly early on Normal. Been tryin' on Hard, but so far I'm fallin' short during Kanako. :x As for Extra... um... yeah... Suwako tears me up. I wish there was a spellcard practice, sometimes I really don't feel like goin' through the stage all over again. :D;;;

I still play Imperishable Night a lot, since I'm tryin' to capture all the Last Words. I got the first three awhile ago, haven't really had time to try the rest recently. I'd record video... but my system sucks anymore. I never finished Shoot the Bullet, I get a bit frustrated when I'm on the last picture and do something obviously stupid. Still fun though, until my patience wears out.

Honestly, I like the Touhou shumps... but I'm quite a bit better at the fighting games Immaterial and Missing Power and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. The latter of which I can't wait until the full release. :3

I play Imperishible Night and Perfect Cherry Blossom occasionally, very fun games but quite hard. I dont think i've sat down long enough to finish them on any difficulty. I usually play for like 30 mins or so when im bored, or torrenting something and im waiting to watch it.

Love the games though, can be a bit overwhelming though. Mabie im not doing something right.

It just involves playing them... a lot. And I mean A LOT.

I like games such as Dimahoo, Radiant Silvergun, Mars Matrix, etc even though they relentlessly slaughter me, but I usually spend more time playing the side-scrollers. (Ones like... R-Type, Pulstar, Progear, G-Darius, etc etc. Bosses that get up close and personal are awesome.) I don't get much into the Dojin games; The only ones I have are Warning Forever and Idinaloq.

I also tried making two shmups. Scratched the first one because I didn't have a well-planned system, then got overwhelmed by the shear number of sprites I had to make while working on the second. <_< Dunno if I'll ever pick the project up again since college is whipping me.

Amg, I love the touhou series!

But I only have demo versions of Imperishable and Scarlet Devil, I have no idea how to get full versions ;____;

PaletWeb or HimeyaShop. Preferably not the latter, they tend to get expensive. To their credit though, they tend to keep some older releases of doujinshi material. PaletWeb on the other hand packs a relevant pencilboard with every purchase.

Buy some Touhou stuff, get a Touhou pencilboard... nifty.

Wow, those look friggin impossible... but fun! Where can I get them, and are there any english versions of them? :D

I doubt there's an English version, unless there're some rare fan translations I hadn't heard of.

You can find some weird stuff for Touhou, like Touhou crossed with Super Robot Wars. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yczJjZLXu_U) (The completely unrelated Daizengar+Trombe scene at the end might blind the lolis though. xD )

Touhou 7 is fully translated, and I believe the Touhou 8 translation is still underway ;x

I have a few of the older touhou games, my left arrow on my laptop is kinda broken, is it possible to change your keys? (or is there a program to do that)

Xpadder will reassign your keys. I used it for awhile when my arrow keys started to stick.

Then I got a gamepad, and life was good.

Though I still use Xpadder to assign my push-to-talk key to the gamepad.

I wish they could figure out how to finish the Imperishable Night translation. I think those working on it ran into a problem ages ago and haven't been able to figure it out. There's an unfinished patch floatin' around out there, but it supposedly crashes the game when ya hit the ending screen.

I'll try that later, and well that doesn't matter since I probably can't beat the game anyways D:

KeyTweak is what I'm thinkin' of, not Xpadder. That'll reassign keyboard keys instead of gamepad keys. This is what I get for posting while uber tired. :D;;;
