Well if you read the iROBoards, you will see Heim mentions that the 1st description Resplendent posted was wrong and that people should wait for the real description. I understand this is a "joke" description most likely, but the GMs had a hand in the joke and in the end, it's kind of a big middle finger to the people reading these things. The GMs are pretty much saying "You complain about all this shit and we are sick of it, so we are going to taunt you and be assholes"

Ok, well I'll let the cat out of the bag here. The description in this thread is pretty much entirely created by myself. The actual changed description, which is also a joke, but is the "real" one, is here:

Since Heim decided to put that up as a little joke at me, I changed their description and substituted my own, poking fun at the GMs.

See, you can't exactly jump down my throat for not knowing this though. I rely on info posted by Resplendent assuming it's what is in the patch info. I have no idea how to access it and really don't feel like putting in the effort to figure out how to. Yes, it seems like the GMs have a better sense of humor than I first thought. :P

Or it could be the GMs saying, "HAY GUIES Y SO SRS."

Which...can be a more succinct form of what you said, or - I prefer - a form of saying that the iRO community DOES take things to be way too serious sometimes. People tend to forget that - you know - there are actual people running the show. (Of course, the GMs do the huge yellow announcements of doom, but yeah.) Certainly, this is a service we all pay for, and RO has a LOT of room to improve, but we DO tend to go after iRO staff with pitchforks and torches over nearly everything. (Hell, someone lost their shit over the Thor's guardians being made somewhat EASIER. Only in RO, y'all.)

I'm with Shadow. I repeat, y so srs? It might have been a bit tacky, but it gave me a couple of cheap laughs.

I guess it kills people to see the game be made easier for people they hate so much that they lose sight of the fact that everybody benefits from it. Haha, w/e - I think it's good that they have a sense of humor about the iRO population's unrealistic expectations.

And now I read Resplendent's post (which wasn't there when I started typing) and now I'm embarrassed. Sigh.

But like, I still think that RO players take themselves and the game way too seriously. Not that I haven't gone all, "THIS IS SRS BUSINESS" in public myself (I'm certain that members of Insurrection AND Dragon's Ire can tell you about that), and I know you can't satisfy everyone, but...I do think that a lot of people are oversensitive when it comes to the game.

This (http://irowiki.org/wiki/Memorial_Day_Event_%282008/05/20%29_%7E_%282008/05/27%29) event made some towels a few months ago... but those towels are different item id's than the accessories that are being added...

Presumably we'll have some form of followup quest...
