I loved the curls too X3 I never really knew what to do in that area of the hair and never had any insperation for my own char. And omg Solar, I'm glad you like it XD It has to be in my top favorites, I keep getting good comments on that falcon of hers. Because I had my sketchbook with me when I was watching tv and I've been playing my sin too much these days for that storyteller quest. She deserved some lovin'. And I adopted a new style that I shall call it stickie to fit in with my toonies. I shall call it stickie, and it shall be mine, and it shall be my stickie!

My friend told me I should try new styles. Which is what I'm experimenting which and I'm quite happy with it (actually very very happy). I have to put her in color sometimes because I have this idea for her back dress cape thing and well, even if it has been done before, I still think it would be cool :( Dont worry, I didnt forget about you XD! I think once this story quest thing is over, I'll be doing some major sketching and trying to contact Aishagurl as well. I think I have her email somewhere ?_?

I agree on that trade ! And I love doing pencil shading, I just do it more for myself as all the commissions are requested to be color XD! Comes out nice but pencil shade always has something more. I just wanted to add (sorry double post ;; ) I finally just got a phonecall for an animation interview (full time worker which means no contract job) tomorrow at 10am !!!! I finished school not last may, but may before that and I havent been able to find a job ever since then. n__n So I'm kind of blowing off my RO sketchs for today and try and draw other things for my portfolio...if something good come out of it, I'll post them here.

Good luck on your interview, I know you're more than qualified for an animation type of job, your artwork seems a lot more unique than most of the anime-style art I've seen in my days. @Allystia: I'm glad you like it, I just try different kinds of style and just use them as my own. I've studied 2D animation for three years and I havent animated a little more than a year so I'll probably start out rusty at first. The way I draw now is a result of the cartooning I did for those three years and my previous style, that always leeched on manga (sailor moon anyone?). I'll gladly post pictures of my personal projects, including the story I'm writing up and hoping to publish someday. But I have to admit I am guilty of drawing more fanart than originals.

@John: Why thank you hun :3!! I'll probably ask Simon's father to drive me so I dont have to depend on the weird hours of the bus x.x!

Well I have been sketching today. My original characters Mimosa, the little girl/mermaid and Lotus, her octopi sidekick. Three different styles, those I absolutly adore the last one and probably debating on using it as the actual style of that story. The title is Children of the Sea, I have no idea if it's final or not. I was aiming for a child's story but now probably gonna try and reach many age groups (including olders who love art, if I can pull off the designs and appeal to them). I'm just basing this on myself, a 24 year old who'd buy a baby's book if it had awesome drawings. Anyways.

Mimosa is a mermaid who can travel on land. Lotus, on the other hand, when he's on land, he just shrinks to become a miniature octopus and can walk around normally on his 8 legs. He'll probably end up just being able to change his size on land and water whenever he wants.

Thanks guys, first week (even though it was three days) went pretty well. They didnt give me something very difficult to do, although it takes me a whole day for something that could take at worst an hour..but thats learning for you. It's awesome because everyone is on msn (which your list is already imported of everyone in the company and cant add more people) and if you have a question, msn another, if there is a message for you, the secretary will msn you and its quite a good system o.o!

I'm a bit afraid when I'll get into more complicated things! but so far its good. I'm working on an mmo (dont know if there is another letter) Massive multiplayer online game, but not like RO or WoW. Cant reveal anything more. Secretz.

I'll probably be posting flash art when I get to installing it on my computer. They showed me a way to clean pictures and I just love the result...but that wont be for months. I'm still trying to adapt (and I say this like i've been working for weeks but its not weeks, its three days :x )

So i have a charged up week with working on two commissions and a trade, I'll have most of it done and finished before sunday evening. I lost monday evening because there is a nude modelling course...its not really a course but people go there, pay and just draw for 3 hours, figured it would help me. Makes me miss my anatomy classes. Not gonna be scanning them because I was rusty in drawing them ;;

At my work, I dont really have the time to whip up some sketchs, we're always on the computer and we dont have photoshop (not on these computers anyways) I think everything is done is flash anyways. So I have a wacom tablet that isnt working that much because I rather use the mouse in flash for the moment. Hearing the clicking in a silent room is annoying however.

Note to self, need to buy good headphones, I cant borrow these forever +_+

I'm glad you like it, Juliet. Colored pencils is something I'll probably prefer over CGing but thats probably because of the lack of experience. I dont see very many that do it, so I'm quite glad some of my work stands out (at least a bit!).

Its too bad with my job, I cant really whip out a sketchbook and draw so it slows me down. I'm on flash 7:30 hours a day and I dont have photoshop installed (yet? or maybe never, who knows). But I did manage to do a tiny sketch, hiding it from everyone. Which I should upload tonight. Marisa's should be done tonight, I'm hoping I have the HP done, working on the lineart and I have the biochem to draw.

Toonies are so much faster to draw *hinthint* XD!!

I was planning on making my Luna Hoshi with an apron that you'd see on anime w/ patches, stitches, and buttons kinda like shes beaten up. ;( /elbow.

Aww.. She had 4 pictures to give me as reference for that costume and hat. I personally havent seen that before ! And it was quite a change from all the priest/high priest costumes x_o! Hey think of it as: great minds think alike =D

I redid that biochem three times and she isnt 100% what I wanted (more like 95%). I think the fact that it was done on a different kind of paper kind of changed how she was. First one was done in my sketchbook and the other was done on printer paper. I usually use printer paper but when its for two chars together, its always best to have the same paper quality, I noticed +_+!

My time got eaten up this weekend, I'll try and finish one during the week.

Ah looking back at it, you cant see much going on on the cape (on the original you can, even if its dark). There are watches, zeny bags, jewelry and stuff of the likes. Her hair was so awesome, I wanted to do something similar for her dress. I guess I'll have to do close up shots because the green on her dress are gems (emeralds i guess). Thats what you get for not doing CG work like most people, you have a hard time getting the right colors that you actually drew.

I'm glad you like it XD! I changed her clothe design a bit, i could have worked more on the boots but they are still alright. If only I could be that colorful irl.

Sadly those sketchs of Mimosa were the last I ever did for now. I'll keep ya posted when I got more XD! I'll put you on the list, I keep saying i'll get things done but people as for 2-3 chars each and thats what slows me down XD! if you are willing to wait, then sure, I'll gladly put you up.

The HP and BG were on two different drawings so I had to add the shadow with photoshop and create some kind of balance with the lighting, she was too bright xD! And had to add a little grey gradient behind the odium because the white was clashing a bit ;x I was supposed to frame it differently but it didnt work out so yup.

oh crap, i never commented on the new one D: it turned out great and i think everyone loves the panda and the dolar. they're just too cute. the positioning and the lighting all works together really well. i must say that my favourite part is the celtic-esque stone detailing.

and i love my LK! she looks so nice and calm, content to be basking in the Morrocan sun before episode 12. i love her pose (it's pretty but natural) and the border-like snakes are adorable. i really adore your pencil work, i'm so glad we did just pencil. your tones are lovely. i was all excited when i read that you might be done tonight, eeeeeeee, i was so happy when i saw it finished too. thank you thank you so much! it was a treat to do a trade with you <3

@Noel: Black and whites will always be my favorites. And they are much faster to work with. Colors are nice, even if they gain in appeal (sorta), they lose a bit of detailing, in my eyes. Will misora show up, who knows x_o!

@Peaches: Yes a sexy LK. I've never drawn one before and her ref pic was like waaah +_+! I must do it justice. I even finished it in my anatomy course on monday nights, it was crying out to me: finish meeeee..

@Rem: My dear Remichan, I had fun with her. There arent any modifications in her armor, as I thought the armor was awesome as it was (not like im gonna go and change everyone's designs haha ;<) but I just wanted to make it look like yours. I added the necklace, little thing, force of habbit. Im the kind of girl that gave my original chars all chocker-like necklaces as I dont like that space bare. I liked her description and I already had a picture of pyramids in the back. Given in the picture, they are very light, they are there. As I couldnt add in the details to the snakes on her large belt skirt thingy, I decided to add them as a border. I suck at symetrical borders but I'll just say it adds to the charm, in my defense.

I whipped out my 6B pencil for the thick outline and I think I might keep doing that for my B&W pictures. Its so sexy :]! I'm glad you like it<3

Ooh, Lady Kay looks great! You really have a way with shading... You get so many soft and smooth tones and textures with your pencils. They're always even and never look out of place or too distracting. And I like the asymmetrical snake border. I think they make the picture more interesting as a whole.

Well Remi's and Chau's, I dont consider them a sketch. But the little moonie sketchs is like no erasing, the lines are alive....but when i want to do it with an actual drawing, it just doesnt work out. So it becomes all rigid, but still turns out really well. For the hp, i didnt want a sitting pose or anything complicated because i wanted to show her shoes, her apron....the darkness. xD

Her stalker should be done tonight if i dont have any chores again XD And gonna try and sketch up your idea of what you wanted, john @.@

i love the moonie sketchies. and i know what you mean about them having more life and such. sketches are more spontanious and there is usually something you can't get when you do final lines. as a general statement, of course. sometimes i find i like sketches alot more than finals, but there really isn't much i can do about it XD;;

Ichigo's new HP is adorable. her custom outfit is great and i like her stance and how simple and clean it is. love the patches too.

When I was in 2D animation for 3 years (6 sessions) we had an anatomy class each session, with life modelling in every class (once a week) so leaving school, having this big year void and then starting work in the animation industry (with flash, hey i'm learning)...when I heard about drawing classes in the monday evenings, I couldnt resist.

It was 25$ to start off and then 3$ per class. There are also classes on thursday but once is enough for me. Lasts for 3 hours but I leave halfway, as the last part is 10 minute poses and I find they arent as interesting as the first part. When they start with 1-2 and 5 minute poses, they are standing, dynamic. When the 5 minutes hit, they take a bench or sit on their little...stand thing. So when 10 minutes come, they are comfortably laying down or sitting, which is understandable, who wants to stand on one leg for 10 minutes. Anyhoo. Considering i spend 7:30h a day on a computer, nothing is hand drawn on paper, all directly on the computer, its nice to actually have a little spot in your week reserved for the old fashion life drawing class.

Whats awesome about it is that I can use my sketchbooks as libraries to help me with my character posing for my commissions, instead of doing the pose myself and having my boyfriend take the picture and base myself on that or looking in the mirror.

I keep saying how i love to do other characters art, because everyone sees their character differently and I love having a wall of text (lol chau<3) to tell me what they want, and how they act and what colors/tones, what emotions and then trying to translate it in drawing through my eyes. I've always seen it as a challenge and it keeps me trying harder. This isnt okay? thats fine, I'll make it better.

Chau's description of her high priestess to be was the opposite lovey dovey lovable high priestess which was I thought, intriging. One not seeming to care, which appears to conflict with her abilities to heal (I'm too lazy to get out the pm to see if I'm saying this right XD). I saw her just standing, isolated, with that little possessed toy in her arms. And I knew that apron was a big deal and we had to see it ! It has stripes, patches, buttons, even a patch with stars on it XD So i thought why not repeating it on the moon. It's like if she made her own world, her own moon and is like the goddess of it.

Oh hell, I'm babbling =[! But if every artist here and those who submit their characters to be drawn, if they all wrote a fanfiction about their characters and putting a huge description of their personality. the way they act, the clothes they wear; I think I'd spend all possible time on reading them, as it always fascinated me how people weave stories around the pixel that represents them in a game.

I, as a learning writer (far from perfect I should add), have written little stories about my characters, giving them strength i do not own, self-confidence, instinct of survival, courage and all that jazz to different pixels. I had a story about Lunoise, my rogue which included White Rainbow, her best friend, it was called Forget me not, was even posted on a forum long ago. I even wrote a fanfic with most of my guild in it and had the best time writting.

this year in my final year of illustration, we usually don't have life drawing. but our visual narrative teacher thinks it's good practice (which it is!) so he arranges studio sessions for us sometimes on days when we have to show him roughs (so we're not sitting rotating all class XD) it's wonderful, i'm glad we still get to do some life drawing when we weren't supposed to have it this year. last class was THEMED. COWBOY themed! and next class is FEMME FATALE. i'm excited. i'll probably miss life drawing when i graduate this year. maybe i'll take some night courses after or something. also, i only ever drew in my sketchbook for extra life, not the in class sessions. those are always newsprint size or bigger. they make it so much more difficult to find reference cause searching through piles of newsprint is a pain in the ass. but yes, primary source reference material is your best friend.

personality and customization in characters always makes the process more enjoyable. i like really indepth descriptions as well. it just makes the piece so much richer in the end, i think.

@Rem: themed T_T! that sounds so awesome. Back in school, sometimes the moeel, in the last 30 minutes would get dressed and then put like, example a school bag and would do poses like walking with his arm on his school bag strap or with a soccer ball. Nothing too extreme but it could help us with clothe folds. There was this one woman that had a kimono, or ressembling one. Was nice. It took me one course in the evening to make me realise that having a class like it in school was worth it. Not that I was complaining at the time, but having like a four hour class and having a teacher that would be so boring (he was fun, old man in his 60s, but when you had a question, he would talk to you for a half an hour... he lost his wife when i was in my first year, he teached 2-3 so I figured he probably got lonely and his classes is what he had left, who knows.).

At my school, when I entered first year, it was their first year of opening up 3D animation. To get to do that, you needed to do your first year 2D with the other 2D people and then in second year, you switch to computers and maya, and character modelling etc. So If i would have wanted, i could have done 3 years 2D and then switch to 3D for 2 years since I already did the first year. I have a friend whos doing that right now, she wants to die because of the work XD! lol

Anyways what I wanted to say was...those in 3D, when they make the switch, they do not have any drawing classes anymore. No character design, no perspective/background class, no anatomy, they have a storyboard class but its not like our storyboard class. They get in that class and they feel like they lost what they learnt in the first year. I pitied them, as I could hear them complain that they had no more drawing classes. And working now makes me realise its like what they did, but a little less since on flash its still 2D and I do draw with a wacom. So these life drawing classes are awesome.

Art thread indeed. I agree fully with what you said about customization. =)!

I cannot say if i prefer one or the other, refering to Chau's pictures, because they both were different in their description, one had lots, one had little and sometimes the pose limits to what you can show. This pose I liked because of how it showed her legs and her heels. Anyhoo, the doll came out like a possessed Thanatos tower doll, which i wanted. Guess it can be odium's dollie until Luna hoshi hello kittied punched it and claimed it as her own. I dont know XD!

@Kaorri: I was thinking on making little guild comics in my spare time, that would require a database of what they look like and personality and specifications on clothes (just like my commision list) but it would be a nice little project. I guess that one became first. Each time i'd hear him speak about the poleaxes he got, thats the story that went on in my head and its been looping since I got it on paper. Yay for paper. XD I'm glad on how it turned out, even without a reference ^o^!

@Peaches: I try to make more sketchs, I love them D:! Its just that its always the same char because I can basically draw her with my eyes closed. Eventually however, I'll start drawing people of my guild in funny situations, I'm hoping. Elio Wilder / Hard candy was one of the first ones (with the priestess wanting to level and the rogue says no). They take like 5minutes to draw and its all there! So every monday night, there will be more, that is 100% certain. Hopefully this week, I'll finish at least one part of each commission I have to do. Not lovely sketchs, but final art ! wooooh~ As for the sig, I will have to ask its maker, the shy Sil that does wonders. :>!

@Chau: I knooow, its more than epic @_@!! I really wish I could make sigs like that, I mean, I'm in animation x__x! i might try something in flash if I know how to export decently in the right format. As for my high priest, bottom right, I like it too. She has a somewhat evil look, good for a halloween picture. She has like...semi-tentacle hair XD! And the little lines falling from her eyes. I guess I'm trying out new designs to see if something fits more than another +_+!

@Kaorri again!: The sig is made from a guildmate of mine *pages sil to the thread* and I wanted a beholder, the little brown one. But for what he wanted to do, which is riding it in the airs of juno, my favorite town because of the moons (duh x_o) it was too small. So he took the adult version, the red seeker and fly away! the ^___^ face fits XD! I might try and redo that as a picture if I dont have anything else to do (which will be in awhile).

Posting this here because I might get more responses from actually interested people than my guild forum >.>! Update on my work.

Hiyo! Some of you know that it has been a few months that I've been working in an animation company that focus on flash MMOGs, publicities and little cartoon shows. For the curious, it's www.frimastudio.com (http://www.frimastudio.com) . They are currently remaking their website, as that is 2 years old. (There is music on it, just need to find the option to disable it =p ) Since the first day, we are all sworn to keep everything a secret by contract, so I was never allowed to give titles or be really specific to people.

I have worked on 4 projects, approximatly. There was one I worked for 2 days but I can still say I'm actually proud in doing something in it. The beta came out officially yesterday morning.

Those of you in the states (and perhaps in europe, I am not sure on that part) might have seen a store called Build-a-Bear, where you can go in and actually build your own bear. The quality is amazing, I worked for 2 days on it and everyone who touched the game got a free bear! :3! And it gets clothes too! I even ordered a koala by internet because I collect them ^o^! Just cost a fortune in shipping but its okay :roll:

It has been announced that they were working on an online video game. When people buy a bear in their shop or online, they get a birth certificat with a keycode on it to be able to play online with your bear in your backpack.

It is free and I believe it'll always be free. It is aimed for the much smaller ones so I'm not expecting you to play. The game was researched with experts and parents, making the game have a safe chat function to be sure their children have a safe interacting environment. So the sentences are premade. =(! You stroll around in the world, might I add the backgrounds are breathtakingly gorgeous, and got lots of mini games to play, some only unlocking with your bear companion. Down side is the character name creation. You only have a choice in 2 lists to combine for your username. For example my name is Karli Raspberry. Many relate to bear words like pawrific= terrific, pawsome= awesome, beary=very and uh...I FURgot my password. =x!

Thats all what I wanted to reveal to you. One secret off my back. Hopefully in the near future, I will be able to reveal a few more! Sadly they will all be like this, aimed for children. But I cannot deny its fun actually doing it.

Side note for the curious, what I did in the game is not in the beta yet I do not think. There are 8 angles for the clothes on the characters. The 3/4 front was done, I did the other turn arounds for 6ish t-shirts, turn around for silk PJ pants and I made a unique reward (these, you cannot change your color), which is the hunter's shirt.

@Piffy!: I dont know why but I saw peaches blog and I saw she mentionned you applied there (i didnt check the date!) and I was like holy crap what a small world! Before working for the virtual game, I never ever heard tell of it before. But such nice quality bears ;;!! Honestly though, I'm not really crazy on the dressing up toys but yeah.. I'm totally gonna get one for my nephew next year, they have like 3 stores open in montreal. Funny though, I was there for 4 years and never heard tell of them. Guess they are pretty new :<!!

@Tris: Actually I couldnt have wished for a better job. In the past, I have applied for a video game tester but it turned out to be only sports games, something I never ever did before so I dont think that would have been the thing for me. But here, I can design things, animate, test the game before it goes out to beta and its like wow, all this in one. Our boss is 31 years old, the average age is of the workers there is probably early 20s. So its pretty young and I've never had a problem with anyone yet, everyone is really nice.

Thats really cute of your mom :0! I have yet to step inside one of their stores and I have two of their bears now! long live internet and free bear ;<!! I am looking forward in making one because i'm extremely curious on how it is.

This is heather's high priest! I love her dearly ;; She was so awesome to give me a culture to work with and i think it came out perfect. I see her as some sort of aztec goddess. I added a yellowish shade over it, just to even out the colors to a more earthier color. My scanner kind of went: hey red, would look awesome if it would be more pink.

@ditte: I cant wait to visit a build-a-bear store. I managed to snag an 8$ coupon for a bear made in 2008 that I'll use to get one for my barely 3 month old nephew ;>!! Overpriced x_x! I know that with the job, since i worked for like 2 days on it at the time, they put my name up for a free bear, so I got the black one, which was really nice. I wanted the koala but they said they might not have it in stock or whatever. So i decided to order it. I think i had a 6$ off. With shipping and taxes and everything (bought it from the canadian website), came up to a wooping 36$ for that koala. I needed it though, for my koala collection :>! Reason why i need to go over to australia someday ~_~!!

@Hoa Mai: I'm glad you like the border. My comics are dirty-ish and i wouldnt want to spend time throwing out the ruler and making everything even. But when a picture that doesnt belong to me requires a border, I try my best and do something decent, in relation to the picture. In this case, i knew Lena loves ambernites so I had to try and throw a bunch in there somewhere. You dont have to pay more for the price, I'd hate to change it when people already put up their names =p!!!
