To be honest, I'm not really that great, but I really want to become better so that I can make pretty things too XD;


I really can't do men.. at all D: And I think I can only do one maybe two before the holidays (I'm going out of town D:).

I like your art.

And yeah, I used to suck more than I do now but I can see a noticable difference with each piece I work on. Also, don't fear teh body! You're doing a decent job already, just practice practice practice!

Another quick note, work on your technique by hand first, if you absolutely cannot draw by hand, a tablet just makes the process 1000x harder. I basically learned to draw on my tablet.. After getting a quarter decent on it, my sketches on all of my school papers became much much much much much better. Also, sometimes if you draw something, then do another drawing a week later you can see a big difference, I've noticed that popping drawings out one-by-one often times throws me off. I never really had a "style" until a month or so ago.. If you just pop them out like mice have babies, you often times don't see much progress.

Look at all the picture orders X3! This is an excellent way to practice, I hope it all works out for you. I am opposite to KettyRaer. I find I draw better by hand on paper than with a tablet. It will easily take me much more time to grasp the same things on a tablet than the traditional way. But to each their own, there is no wrong way!

When I draw, I like to sketch out the body (no clothes, no details) first, lightly. At this point, it would look like circles and shapes. Once I have what I want, i start drawing the contour and clothes over (it helps having a solid base underneath, even if you end up hiding all the legs with a skirt: you'd have the right proportions, the height, the figure wouldnt look like its floating or extra short or something of the likes). Then, I'd go around adding the little details.

I always saw it as layers. Under all, you have the body which will hold everything together. Then the clothes rest on the body. And the details follow the skin, the clothes, the folds, the wrinkles. So I always went in that order. =)

With all these people with codes, you'll reach variety and it'll help you out a lot, I'm sure! I hope this little bit helps ^^ In one of my character design classes, in my animation program, this teacher told us to buy a little sketch book and draw in it each day. It could be anything that comes to your mind, it doesnt even need to be completed. Most of the class did it, and it became a little library for each student, for ideas and just for practice.

Female armor references are either very scantily clad, or.. just not very good.
I hope those are helpful, though!
In my personal experience, I find it best to think of armor as stiff, rigid clothing that adheres more to its own form than that of its wearer.

I did it a really roundabout way >.>

Iuh, found a gradient pattern in PS CS3, put that as my background, but then it wouldn't let me write on a new layer! So I copied it, amde a new document, pasted, made another layer, toyed with settings until it let me make it white (just a white pen color), and then uh... drew by erasing >.> I know there's an easier way, I just know it ;;

By the way, your new headshots look great. I love how you color eyes (those bits of white you leave in the coloring of the irises really make them pop) and the hair texture looks very pettable.
