Isn't it possible to override the current loading screens with your own by putting something like loading00.jpg-loading09.jpg in the skin folder if i remember correctly?

Maybe we could get the original artists to post higher resolution ones than the 640x480 that RO uses (or grab em from their respective posts in this artwork forum), and make our own high res alt set (thinking 1280x1024 res)?

Yes it is. And it goes from loading00.jpg to loading10.jpg. They have to be jpegs. My dumb computer nearly crashed on me when I had the wrong format. =_=;
