I actually have a few friends in Iraq who told me about this. Apparently 'insurgents' have taken to slicing open friendly dogs and putting remote detonated bombs in them. While the soldiers will be careful around the natives due to suicide bombings, they never expected bomb-implanted dogs. The dogs, used to being fed by the soldiers, are used also to going to them when something is wrong (such as any normal injury) due to the care the soldiers normally gave them.

After several times of entire groups of soldiers being killed or injured by exploding dogs, the order was given out to shoot dogs on sight if something looked wrong about them (limping, strange lumps in the skin, looked weak, ect) and to just avoid the roaming dogs altogether instead of caring for them like normal. The soldiers have never enjoyed it, but as you can see instead of just shooting the dog and leaving it to die, they made sure it was dead.

Please, try to do some research before jumping the gun.

As for the first vidya, I never saw it, but I've heard about it. There are horrible people all over the world. Especially in the Marines, who... well honestly I've never met a Marine that wasn't fucking crazy.

You get a video if an American soldier doing anything with ethical question and it'll be around the world in an hour.

I'd rather the dog go down then a group of my countrymen. Let's make it as quick and painless for the dog, it didn't ask for bombs inserted in it. All marines are professional rifleman, make it quick and easy and move on. I'm not defending this video, take one shot to the head...we all know the Marines are capable of this. No need to walk up and pop it a few more times. The dog over the cliff? Unacceptable, punish the marine accordingly.

Although I love the fact the insurgents putting bombs in dogs and detonating them doesn't really get any "omg, not to dogs!!" here.
