I don't think you can do much there buddy. Im sorry to have to say that the program you installed was likely no video game. Kernal32 is basically the center of all operations on your computer. Without it, you can't do anything. You can take your hard-drive to A computer shop to backup your data, or maybe someone else here can help you with that, but you most likely will indeed have to do A full restore.

No, you can do a repair and keep all your data. If a piece of hardware is pooched then put the hard drive in anouther machine then copy the data.

When you are quoting someone, quote them. You didn't even read further down.

that's what I said?

It's a slim hope but here are some Microsoft tools, mostly from the Recovery Console so you'll have to alter your boot sequence to CD back in the BIOS: http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?query=Damaged+registry+Repair+and+rec overy+in+windows+XP&catalog=LCID%3D1033&pwt=false&title=false&kt=ALL&mdt=0&comm=1&ast=1&ast=2&ast=3&mode=a&x=8&y=11
Just remember if you follow this road, do EXACTLY as described.

If that was you, from the context what you were saying it makes it sound like you want him to format the machine. Now you are telling him to repair it. If you meant to say to do some sort of repair, re word your paragraph.

If it's a hardware issue there is no hope. He will need to replace the busted leg.

If it's a software issue doing a repair should work.

Just giving him options that's all : )

You should give him the one that doesn't lose his data first, then go from there.

I called dell and they're sending me a XP CD, because apparently i lost mine. From what i've heard from other people re-installing XP should fix it so..

Yeah that's the first thing I'd suggest, it should find your XP install and ask to repair it, let it.

Also yamaha, don't copy+paste shit from google, I already did that before i posted here.

Actually if you had access to another machine of the same XP version that you could put the HD in, you could copy the offending file(s) directly over to the "bad" disk, then put it back in your PC and see if it boots up.

They have to be the same

if you have an oem disk, seeing as it's a dell, you would need a oem copy of the OS you have.

A OEM key won't work with a corperate install.

Well good luck to you, but I really doubt recovery will work.

ps. I'll post whatever copy+paste shit I want
