Ahoy Mateys,

Tis the time o` year that all the pirate spirited adventurers eagerly wait fer. Durin` regular Maintenance September 18th, a small, 1 week, quest will be implemented in celebration of the September 19th Talk Like a Pirate`s Day!

The young Pirate in trainin`, J Rogers in Comodo will be lookin` for some Pirate Spirited help. As ye all know the measure of yer pirate spirit is in yer Pirate hats, so bring out yer Corsairs, bandanas, eye patches and daggers to get more bang fer yer buck.

Wrote this up quickly: Dunno if it will be of help.

Start the quest in Comodo.

Talk to the small boy and he'll ask you to find a treasure chest on the map -> of Comodo.

If you're wearing a Pirate Bandana, the chest you need is around the bottom right of the map.

Bring the chest back to him, and he'll ask you to collect items for a key. *recive exp*

You need...

1 UG Key / CT Key
10 Squid Ink
5 Feather of Birds
6 Worn-Out Pages

He will make a key and ask you to burry the box for him.

If you get told to go to the map where the mobsters wander, it's the seals map 2 -> and one south of comodo. Once you step foot on the map it should tell you where to go with a red + on the map. Go there and find the chat prompt on the ground somewhere. *recive exp*

Head back to the boy and he will tell you a pirate stole his treasure and hes in the comodo lighthouse. Head to the lighthouse. At the bottom left of the map theres a pirate(drake) NPC. Talk to him and he'll ask you to prove your pirate spirit if you want to talk to him.

He will give you a compass. Head back to the boy, and give him the compass. *recive exp*

And that's all I can figure out to do. :O

Note: A couple people got different locations on the burry treasure box place so it may be random / set by level. This was done on my 95 Biochem.

For the first part of the quest i got 312500 Base exp on a 72 Trans
And my Job lvl went from 90.8 to 95.7 on Job 41, i don't know how much exp that is.

Edit: For the second part of the quest, burying the treasure, i got 312500 Base exp.
I gave him a ct Key and he asked me to go to Pharos Lighthouse.
I wonder if he tells you where to go based on the key you give him or if it's random.

Edit2: For the third part, getting the compass i got 150k base exp.

if you are told to bury the treasure around the "screeching bridge where the otters play," or something like that, head to the sea otter map, east of seals. stand on the middle of the bridge, turn your camera upside down, and hover your mouse over the tree in the water.

Does anyone have the coordinates for all of the chests on the map for the first portion of the quest?

I'm getting negative messages for all the chests I've found so I wonder if I'm missing one.

There's 5 chests that I know of.

Two bottom right.
Two bottom left-ish.
One top right-ish.

You have to multi-click them btw.

I've gotta say it was a bit of a let down. I was hoping they'd do something with the gear. I'm not saying I was expecting a OMGSLOT nor did I really want one but anything would have been better than nothing. =/

i was looking forward to my +5% dmg vs fish dagger or whatnot. More exp for my super novice is good though :)

Just a slight correction, I received my third lot of exp when the pirate gave me the compass, not when I gave it to the boy. Didnt get anything for giving it to the boy except a little pirate song.

If you go back to the pirate captain after giving the compass he gives another little blurb but no more reward/request.

Went from 68+13% to 69+32% from all 3 exp rewards so was worth the 10 mins it took.

Theres at least 7 chests in the east cave, mine was in the north east passage towards the top. At least they are out in the open and not hidden spots like some previous quests :)

Very simple quest and decent exp for the effort put in.
I bet they will have a town invasion or something like that later on.

The GMs said multiple times on the iRO forum they were gonna unbound them with the Pirate quest. Is this not the case?

Not yet, still can't trade them. Can't put them in cart either. Haven't tryed to OC one though.

So yah I don't think any experience is given after you talk to the pirate which I thought was kind of weird, I guess finishing the quest by giving the boy the compass we just do out of the kindness in our hearts...(for an NPC...)
Both my level 68 char and level 71 gained a level from this (now 69 and 72)
so I'd say its worth it for the short amount of time/items it takes.

so, any ideas if what you wear gives you more/less exp? This leads me to belive thats the case...(unless someone just messed up)

# 890625 Base and 262500 Job at level 94 & 97. (Assuming same for 90+)
# 937500 Base and 262500 Job at level 71, 72 & 75 (verify?)

I've seen player vend pirate dagger on sakray so the unbound must be with 11.2

yah but people think this is the thing its being used for...supposedly you get more exp if you do this quest with dagger then w/o (thats what i heard dunno only did it with the dagger so nothing to compare it to)

I seriously don't see why people are complaining so much, mianly the official forums, but there is no chance for us to get a slotted lower headgear.

I seriously think its a nice quest judging that it isn't for some big Holiday, quick and easy exp.

The pirate dagger seems to be unbound on Sakray, so maybe it comes with the patch.

no i got exp. I did it on my 99 pali and got .2% job and 500kish exp guild tax. i'm not job 70 though so maybe thats why someone who is 99/70 might get berries?

and thats not true... you can do it with just an eye patch on or just a corsair or just a pirate dagger. since you can do it with any one of those items and everyone can buy an eye patch easily it shouldn't really be a problem. Yar the Spirit ye show equals the reward ye be given. 3 Pirate items = more experience then only 2 or 1. The reward for wearing 3 is 'bout one and half times as much as only 1 be giving ya. The Dagger tween your teeth remained untradable till now so it be extra rewardin to our anniversary participants.

This quest be for fun only, not for the phat lewt. so that is the main benefit of having the dagger but it still can be done w/o it...

i did it on my 94/50 priestess. i wore corsair, eyepatch, and dagger, and got 1,125,000 (i made sure to write down my exp before/after). i'll probably do it on my 84 sinx with the same gear and write down how much i get to see if it varies; i'll edit my post accordingly. <3

edit: did it on my then-68, now-69 rogue and i think i got 1.1m. i was wearing pirate bandana instead of corsair, not sure if that matters? D:! i'll do it on my sniper next. 8D i did it on sinx but was all, "LOL WAT IZ CHECKING EXP?" but i think she went from around 84 or 85% to 93%.

edit #2: wtfwtfwtf. did it on 93 sniper and got exactly 937,500. THIS QUEST IS SO CONFUSING. it might be because i accidentally told the boy no, i wouldn't find his treasure. i was like OOPS ENTERSPAMMING AHAHA. D:

I did this on a 9x HP and a 7x linker and got more exp on the linker simply because I was wearing more pirate gear. I believe that the exp isn't level based, only gear based. I used clock tower keys both times and only wore the dagger while doing it on my HP but wore Corsair, dagger, and eyepatch while doing it on linker. My HP got 750k base and the linker got 1,125,000.

I disagree! It was very worth it on my int swordie :(, a 10 minute quest beats 2500 fresh fish for bash leveling any time!

True. I guess this could be good for those really wierd builds that you do.

I haven't tested it (nor do I have the characters) to do between the 60-70 and see how beneficial it'd be

Yeah I got it, sorry for deleting it. The problem was because on different characters I was getting the message something about the whispers and a question mark emotion popped up meaning that it wasn't the right one but this one was different. Thought it was a bug or something.

Tried it with Underground Key. It makes no difference.

Edit: Something odd happened when I did this on my 72/39 hunter. At the part where I buried the chest near the lighthouse, I tried it with no pirate headgears on but got the same exp as if I was wearing 3, which was 375k base and 105k job. Then I did it with just the eye patch on and I got 250 base and 70k job, less exp than when I did it with no gears. However when I did it on my other characters it worked as it should, although I had to bury the chest at different locations. This has nothing to do with the type of key either, as I used a clock tower key on my hunter as I did with all of my characters except one.
