I play on pRO valhalla, a free to play server with a lot of premium items (and the normal, everyday items) on sale in what's called the hypermart. Getting to the point, We recently had a promo where we could get doppelganger cards for 7000 Rok points (P350 = around $8).

Now the question is, since I am a battlesage with a total of 70 STR and not-so-high INT of 91 total, where do you guys think I should compound 2-4 Doppel cards? This is of course to take advantage of autospell casting chance - wherein more aspd = greater frequency of random bolts. I can theoretically put in 4 doppels into a main gauche and get 187++ aspd, as tested on doddler, but that would invalidate my STR and ridicule the definition of a "battle" sage - making me a lower-int hindsight sage instead. (Not to mention the fact that I lose my counter dagger, taking my dmg on Ice Titans from a buffed 550+ per hit @ 176 ASPD down to 2 per hit using the main gauche, but at 187aspd).

On the other hand, I can use a sage's diary, put in two doppels, and get an aspd of 183.6 with dmg of around 62 due to my study mastery. Not good either, damage wise and with respect to my STR..... so please do suggest your thoughts and what you think can be an option to this doppel problem I have. What weapons to put it in, what other equipment I can consider and stuff like that.

Note: I use the Ice Titan for example cuz I level there the most often. Other, softer monsters will undoubtedly fall easily to even an elemental-charged main gauche (say a seal), but I'd like to find out how I can still use my str and tackle harder monsters, while still taking advantage of the doppel cards.

LVl 97 battesage playing on pRO Valhalla. Any comments are welcome.

I think your best course of action to go for 99, rebirth, and make a full AGI/INT battlesage instead. Then you can blast yourself full of doppel cards in that sage diary and rock.

If so, what would you say is the estimated time you kill an Ice Titan equipped with a Counter Dagger? I'm looking for a range i.e. between 5 seconds to 20 seconds depending on the number of frequent Lightening Bolt procs.

I'd rather depend on magic damage over physical damage. Even if that means depending on a proc rate of a spell.

For your taste, a Sage's Diary would be more suited to benefit from your amount of strength rather than a Main Gauche; increase in attack speed if you have over 50 base strength which I assume you do; you also have 91 total int (buffed, unbuffed?) leaving you with being able to fully utilize a Sage's Diary. However, a Quadruple Main Gauche of Verserk/Berserk would still be able to be sold later if you decide to quit/retire your battle Scholar. Or you could always use it for other characters. With a Double Sage's Diary of Verserk/Berserk, your chances of selling that item decrease.

In addition, you don't lose much magic attack with a Sage's Diary if not any. You do with a Main Gauche which you sacrifice for an increase of attack speed. That minor of a change of attack speed does not seem worth it in my opinion and I would rather have a moderate attack speed accompanied by the highest magic attack obtainable with my Scholar if I were going agi/int. Battle Sage/Scholar in your case.

I'll consider that ^^.

I prefer a sage / scholar with STR though, and somehow maintain my damage while getting the best balance of speed and damage from the weapon. :stir:

I've seen agi/int sages with link who kill ice titans ridiculously fast, just from lightning bolt. When you're linked and you've got high attack speed, you don't even need to care about weapon damage, or even if you're hitting things with your weapon.

You don't even need to have a weapon at all. ;)

Coupled with a sage to kaahi and link you at all times, AGI/INT is basically unstoppable. The only things that can kill an AGI/INT, linked and kaahi'ed sage are:
- Running out of SP (you can do 33% more hindsight'ed bolts with the same sp then doing all of them manually)
- Taking magic damage (or anything kaahi can't heal from)
- Taking damage bigger than your full HP (instant kill)

Once scholar, you get indulge, so the first one is rarely a problem. Against monsters, magic damage is rare, so the second isn't too common either. And third, with proper defensive gear and HP, most attacks wouldn't ever reach too big.

How many cards did you buy? I would stock up. :P If you are thinking of long term and plan to go autocast build as scholar you should save 2 for Beezlebub's Book of the Dead.

Otherwise i think i would agree with Dispel's advice.

Save it for Magic Tactics? (12.0)

Save it for Magic Tactics? (12.0)What he said. If you have a Doppel card buy another or get a Cecil Card and plan on making an Int/Dex/Agi Scholar. You can get like 60 dex and still maintain high atk speed an donly sacrifice like 1 or 2 atk speed for that dex(which is worth it in my book).

Honestly you will be laughed at if you get str. Doppel Card amplifies your atk speed which, using hindsight, amplifies your chances of dropping bolts. Your lack of 20% cards will make your hits in the 100s, if your lucky, even with a lot of str. Plus the best exp in game for Hindisght Sage/Scholars are Titans and with str and a book your atk power will still be crap. throw on a Doppel Ice Pick and you might do 400s :-/ You will kill fasted using Magic tactics/Sage Diary and no Str.

Thank you all for the thoughts. I think I will be saving my doppel cards (yeah, I stocked up with four :D) and wait for some better books (is ledger of death slotted? and ledger of death is the same as book of the dead yeh?)

That would be way cool... I agree with metatron on the less aspd part, lots of agi saved to put into other stats, and 183+ aspd (with a 2 slot book) is still plenty fast, I'd think.

I love my STR though, if only for the versatility (especially since I can switch to weapons like counter dagger or IP accordingly). I'll remain one of the few battle/hindsight/whatever sages twisted enough to retain any STR in their build :stir:

If I find I can't wait for the newer books, then Sage's Diary should be good enough @ 183 aspd + autospell on softer targets.

BTW, with the recent turtle island x2 exp mod we had + a slew of field manuals, I am now lvl 99 and looking forward to transcending after tax / boosting / preening around prontera ./e2 Just wanted to share ^^

Has anyone seen or have screenshots of
someone playing around with the Ledger of Death book?

I'd love to see them, that book just looks like sex to me.

There were some posted in the Chaos WoE screenshots thread (http://forums.irowiki.org/showpost.php?p=134689&postcount=715).

There were some topics discussed in the Ragnaboards (hybrid vs auto caster): (English and nearly the same discussion, except that it is the transcendent class version + 4 doppels)

P.S. charlestio, the deadly book known to all is called the ledger of death, book of the dead, or to anime fans... The Death Note.
And by the way... my STR totals 80 XD (you're not alone)

ooohh that was a "lively" discussion hehe. Basically the central point of the discussion in the links above is, "to each his own". Sorry for reviving a month-old post. Those links above are plenty useful for hybrid and scholar / sage lovers though.

Glad to meet ya. I should hang out at RB more, para may mga kababayan. I ended up with a total of 60 STR unbuffed, which is good enough melee dmg with a counter dagger @ 178 aspd. Btw - currently Battle Scholar with (poor) FS tendencies and loving every minute of it. What's your avatar name Brent? And does Yralyn actually play in pRO pala?
