This question is for anyone who plays kRO.

For anyone who uses Huuma Shuriken on their Kagerou or Oboro, which of the two is superior:

Huuma Swirling Petal [2x Archer Skeleton] +12 {+3Dex/+3Dex}

  • Level 4 on the Wiki, Level 3 in the database (which is it?)
  • 150 base attack (granted it's 75% versus Medium/Large)
  • 2s for an upfront +20% range damage boost or even go 2x AK for late-game maps
  • +20% Swirling Petal Damage

UPG Huuma [1x Archer Skeleton] +12 {+3dex/+3dex}

  • Level 3 (if HSP is also level 3, then it has no clear advantage over this one)
  • 50 base attack (75% versus Medium/Large)
  • Only 1s, so less overall boost here
  • +3 Attack every 10 levels from 20-120, max +30
  • +1% Range every 2 upgrades, max +10% (+12 = 6%)
  • +5 Attack/+3 MAttack every upgrade, max +100/+60 (+12 = 60/36)
  • Total equipment attack = 90 at level 120, if brought to upgrade +20 = 130 at level 120, and Range +10% (20% with AR)
If the UPG were like the original concept (it should be, seriously bogus it isn't, K/O's are true pure glass cannons, and should have at least one weapon that's versatile, universal in that it's good for Kunai skills as well, but allows for some decent damage for higher level 150+ maps).

Heck, while I wait for an answer I'll do some math.  More fun!

Level 150, Str (since I'm iRO) 110 with bonuses, +20 Food (130str), Dex 120 +20 Food (140dex), Agi 50, Luck 60 + 20 Food (80) + Bless/Agi/Gloria

If I actually increase the upgrade level to 15, the UPG gets closer in base damage range, but overall the Swirling Petal is superior, by a significant enough margin that even Kunai Explosion would see no benefit of a UPG over a Huuma Swirling Petal.  It's even uglier when using the skill Swirling Petal.

Unless I've done something totally wrong, that seems correct.  Kind of low in damage, but there are no element modifiers applied.  I'm actually appalled at how low the damage is versus a proper dagger combination when considering Kunai Explosion.

Just for some fun, I'll do a Dagger based general version of Kunai Explosion for comparison.

...son of a, I did the damage calculation for Explosion all wrong.  It's 5x(50+dex/4) not 5x (50+dex)/4...so much higher multiplier.  Doublechecking, and unless there's a level modifier to Swirling Petal, that damage should be correct (seriously, why does it NOT have a level modifier?, especially with such a bogus bonus from Dex/Agi?, wow, 1 point per, no equation that allows for exponential, or at least a great boost per point, like (Dex+Agi/8)^2, or (Dex/5)^(Agi/150 +1) + (Dex+Agi/2)?  Something that would halfway interesting and actually provide better viability at higher levels...I don't know.  Or just a Level/100 modifier on that one, or heck, even just a level/120?  Anyway, maybe one day they'll learn to balance for the long term.

Anyway, Explosions real modifier is 2687.5% or 26.875x....and now it's mimicking my experience.  Good good.  It seemed a bit low at 1750%.  

I'm also curious, aside from Element bonus, Accessory damage modifiers and the mid/lower headgear options, is there anything I'm missing in my UPG and Huuma Swirling Petal damage?  With 2x Thief Accessories, the damage is like 32-44k, with Elemental bonuses, it looks more like 40-70k depending on the Element.  With 2x AK cards instead and element, on Boss-type the Huuma Swirling Petal is closer to 45-90k depending on the boss.  Granted that's nothing to scoff at, it's a 4bloody second wait period between casts with 16th Night, 5s without.  This is all before defense is factored in.

Huuma quivalent I went for a +9 Huuma Wing which is similar in attack value to a +12 Huuma Swirling Petal.  Crescent Moon isn't there, so I simply added 150 Atk, and +12 for +3/3Dex and +3/3Dex on the Huuma and Latitanis.  All adds up to the same stats anyhow.  Level 150, and since Huuma Wing is Wind, I used a Whisper as the base.

Damage ended up being 24,756~29,739, but then in a similar build, similar equipment, my numbers were closer to 30-40k.  Not sure what I did differently then.

So is my math wrong, or is the calculator just off?

Fire Wheel is what I'm calling the new Huuma.  I have no idea what iRO will actually name it, but I thought I'd have some fun before Christmas, and was in the mood for a little number crunching.  Using most of my above post for certain elements such as Dexterity, Luck, and other equipment and their bonuses.

Fire Wheel at +15...actually no point in going any higher from here, since the special bonus stops at this point.  Thank you Ziu and Jayed for better insight into how the special bonus breaks down.

So it's bonus equipment attack of Refine Rate^2, up to a refine rate of 15.

Clearly the new Huuma is way ahead of the curve.  The Huuma Swirling Petal is definitely the better of the two (sorry Lester, but unless you can show me proof that this breakdown is false, the HSP easily outstrips the UPG).  WTF was Gravity thinking...the original UPG build was the strongest Huuma, but not by any substantial margin.


Let's assume level 160, STR boosted to 150 in part thanks to shadow  gear.  Attack multiplier of *1.1, so that 1.07 becomes 1.17, also thanks  to shadow gear.

I think it's safe to say the new level 3 Huuma far outclasses the existing Huuma.  If the special enchant system allows for either more Attack or more Range % damage...that will greatly increase its overall power above and beyond what is already displayed here.

Yep, the new Huuma is about what any new weapon should be, but honestly it would work better if they allowed the current special enchants to allow for better bonuses for weapons, like actual damage bonuses.
