Log Horizon
« on: January 12, 2015, 12:04:40 AM »
How do we not have a thread about this

Another one of those "sucked into an mmo" type settings, except instead of being in a game, the players are in a world that's similar to the game.

The anime is now further along than the translated light novels in baka-tsuki, which got abandoned since some company licensed the light novels.

More than "sucked into an mmo", is "My reality was replaced with a mmo".

They were like summoned to another world where a series of magic spells and whatnot simulate the MMO stuff. Its kinda weird. I watch it, though.

So how about that latest episode? Bots became adventurers too. How intriguing . . . If players lose their memories of their real life when they die, what happens to bots?

Its quite an interesting concept but all the plot points leading up thus far have been that the world is becoming "real" and the old world is becoming non-existent for them.

  • Adventurers gradually lose memories of the old world
  • Adventurers' voices and personalities are starting to match their avatar's
  • The world is becoming bigger by the day (so instead of being a little sand boxed game world its growing to the size of a real world).
  • Flavor text is becoming real
  • NPCs and monsters starting to think for themselves instead of following a script
  • Programs running player-characters got turned into real people-- developing a personality (likely linked directly to my second bullet).
In the end they will be a person from this world, and the one they thought they came from is a dream they had.

Aliens. And the plot thickens.

Spoiler: show

So we don't really know whether they were sucked into a game, or are in a world that is coincidentally similar to a game. Based on Roe 2's letter to Shiroe, it seems to be the latter since Roe 2's people came from yet another world. Then again, Shiroe does make a good point that it is very unlikely that this alternate world just happens to be so similar to Elder Tales.

The whole game-world rules and real-world laws of physics being haphazardly mashed up together does suggest that they're in an artificially created world.

When there's more story to animate
Yes, all the current novels were animated, so there's no more story to cover (unless making fillers)

Didn't know that, was just focused on the anime as I have rage tendencies when I do manga/LN first before anime (or concurrent with anime) due to the differences in content lol. Glad to hear that and id rather have them not making filters like certain mainstream ones we have right now...

Magi has also ran out of content right?

Not exactly...
LH literally ran out of content, to the degree tat the last two episodes, the plot were shown first in the anime than the LN (but it wasn't anime original, the next update for the web novels give the same content)
Magi... well... to out it simple, the next arc isn't completed yet... so there's more plot, not completed yet.
