Dreaming in Rhythm
« on: May 23, 2010, 01:37:55 AM »

General Information

I have a BFA in Comic Art.
I am always looking for constructive criticism on my pieces; I will never improve otherwise!
I have a deviantart page that I'm trying to update more often now.
I also have a
blog that I update relatively regularly and an online graphic novel titled OcculTango.

Commissions

Open

List:
1. ????
2. ????
3. ????
4. ????
5. ????

Images will be done digitally.

I will be accepting payment through paypal. Half the total will be asked for when I start on the piece, and the last half upon completion. I will tell you when I'm starting your commission.
Payments are made to kehris(at)comcast(dot)net.
Please select sending type as "gift" or else paypal will take some of the money.  I will send you the art piece via email, MSN, or AIM; whatever your preference is.

I will update you on the progress of your piece at 3 stages:
1. Pencil Sketch
-At this point I will ask about the pose of the figure and tweak anything you feel is necessary.
2. Inks and Flats finished
-Giving you an update on color palette and background layout.  Again, things can be tweaked if necessary.
3. Finished Piece
-Small tweaks can be made such as text, borders, glows, etc

Pricing is as thus:
Quote
Cute/Small/Chibi Style
~full body only~

Lineart:
One character w/no bg ................ $2
 One character w/basic bg ............. $4
 One character w/detailed bg ......... $6
+$2 for every extra character

Color:
One character w/no bg ................ $5
 One character w/basic bg ............. $7
 One character w/detailed bg ......... $10
+$4 for every extra character

Signature type chibis are 40m Valk Zeny.
No idea about pricing on Ymir, but I do
accept zeny there too.  Maybe suggest an
equivalent price for Ymir?

Normal Style

~Full Body/Waist/Bust~
Lineart:
One character w/no bg ................ $8/$6/$4 (30m zeny)
One character w/basic bg ............. $12/$10/$8 (42m zeny)
One character w/detailed bg ......... $18/$14/$12 (60m zeny)
+$5/$4/$2 for every extra character (+10m zeny)

Color:

One character w/solid bg ............. $22/$18/$15 (70m zeny)
One character w/basic bg ............ $28/$23/$20 (80m zeny)
One character w/detailed bg ........ $32/$28/$24 (100m zeny)
+$10/$8/$6 for every extra character (+20m zeny)

Sorry if zeny prices are too expensive.  I have no idea what the economies are like.
You don't have to limit yourself to RO characters, I can draw original characters or fan art as well.

To order, post whether you want ink or color, what kind of background, and how many characters.

Here are some examples.

Audria rocks! Completely trustworthy. Her art has a very unique style as well. It's not just cookie cutter anime.

Also one of my scholars; FS and Hindsight.
Plan to do on for each of my characters.

If you want one of these disgustingly adorable drawings, it's 20m on valk server.

Current piece I'm working on:

It's the cover to an online comic I'm starting called "OcculTango."

I've got two commissions I'm working on as well, but you're all more than welcome to pile the work up on me. ;D

its cool that u are practicing fleshed otu scenes in your compositions

a warning tho cause i think this is hindering your efforts: as it is now your technique is very "cg" [a term ill use loosely here] .. oversaturation, thick black outlines & lot of soft airbrushing

now some of these can be OK in some situatiosn for digital thangs, but i think the softy airbrush look can be fixed w/ adjusted contrast and more varied textures .. in most cases the super soft airbrushy look doesnt work at all unless its like a buffer for something else
the oversaturation issue u will want less harsh color combinations .. 9 times out of 10, loud and oversaturated colors in overwhelming amounts will confuse the viewer and ruin a scene.
the black outlines .. it comes off as indirectly overpowering cause the color rendering is extremely soft and doesnt match up w/ the strong black linework

i assume your comics in b&w?? that should be fun .. theres a lot to learn about composition, story portrayal & character representation that can transfer over well to general illustration

I would like to commission one piece with two characters and a fancy background. I dont really have any personal wishes regarding the details so i would like to leave all of that up to you.

I agree with this^
I think maybe you should also try using less b&w in coloring, and add more variations in color shading.
The color seems a bit..um.. too bold i guess.
But I do love your poses!

"Finished" the cover I was working on.
I would like some suggestions and critiques about a few aspects of the piece.

1.  How do the colors look?
2.  Some suggestions on how to better ground the characters in the piece.

The cover is supposed to be focused on the two characters and the atmosphere of the story.

Bump for Art Trades~!!
Here is a short description of my characters:

             Kael
              6’1”
              180lbs
Brown Eyes
Reddish-Brown Hair
The mysterious one.  He doesn’t remember much of what happened to him before being found by the Faire clan; that’s what he’s told everyone, at least.  He is a very curious and investigative person.  Kael is confident and tries to be as polite as possible to those he feels deserves the respect.

              Bryna
              5’6”
              135lbs
Hazel Eyes
Black Hair w/Brown Highlights
Bryna sits on the quiet side and is more grounded and mature than her younger, fiery brother, Duscan.  She talks when necessary, but does not speak her mind too early.  She is extremely hard to impress.  She has a very cold exterior, but she is very loving towards her family and friends.

              Duscan
              6’4”
              196lbs
Hazel Eyes
Black Hair w/Dark-Blue Highlights
Duscan has a fiery personality.  He’s not afraid to give you his opinion.  He’s quick to anger and hates it when people don’t listen to him.  He holds grudges longer than the earth can circle the sun.  Despite his explosive shortcomings, Duscan is extremely loyal to his clan and family.  Everything he does, he does to protect the things important to him.

I'll post up a sketch of my lovely Duscan within the next day.

Anyone interested? :3
I'll do fanart or OCs.
Image specifics will be determined before starting so that the trade is equal <3

Sounds great! :3

Here's an example of Duscan~:

A small note: his bangs hang down over his eyes, though they don't completely conceal them.

His weapon is a spectral sword.  Ghosts/spirits are what give it power.  It, therefore, materializes out of nowhere, obviously ;D

I wouldn't mind an art trade myself, though I've got to get through summer finals first. All your characters look pretty fun!
