Default Ragnarok Renewal Opening Notice

Hello,
This is the Gravity (c) Ragnarok Online Development Team.

This notice concerns "New Ragnarok, the 3rd Generation", the Ragnarok Renewal and more.

In July 24th 2008, the Ragnarok Renewal server has opened, and through testing, and feedback gathered from various online and offline gatherings, and user opinion surveys, the renewal test has progressed much since then.

The Ragnarok Renewal brings many great changes, such as the addition of 3rd classes, the raised level limit, and many changes to the game system and mechanics, and while the feel is a little different than before, we're convinced you'll enjoy this itteration of Ragnarok.

Date: June 17th, 2009 - Scheduled Maintenance

Renewal Update Contents

[Basic System Changes]

- Breaking the level limit (Max level increased from level 99 to level 150)
- Required experience for leveling up has decreased
- Experience and Drop values change based on character level.
- Skill casting time changed.
- Physical and magical attack power formula changed.
- Physical and magical defense power formula changed.
- Hit and evasion formula changed.
- Attack speed formula changed.
- Critical attack formula has changed.
- Simplified job change.

[Basic System Changes]

* Breaking the Level Limit

The maximum level has increased from level 99, and max stats increased to 120.
See if you can reach these new heights.

* Decreased Experience Required for Leveling

The amount of experience required to level has decreased.
Escape the tedium of grinding, allowing you to enjoy Ragnarok more.

* Experience and Drop Changes Based on Target Level

Based on the player's and targets level, you'll receive a bonus (or penalty) to experience.
Depending on how much your levels vary, you can gain between 140% experience max, to a minimum of 10%.
Item drops vary from 100% max to a minimum of 50%. (Boss monsters are excluded)

* Skill Casting Time Change

The addition of Fixed casting prevents you from obtaining instant cast through your stats.
The fixed casting portion of casting can be reduced via specialized skills and items.
The variable cast time is influenced by your stats, items, and equipment.

* Physical and Magical Attack Power Formula Changed

Physical Attack - Equipment Attack power now has a higher weighting than status attack power. However, with both high status and equipment attack power, you can do even more damage.

Magical Attack - Magic weapons now give a fixed amount of magic attack power, with rod type weapons being the strongest for casting.

* Physical and Magical Defense Formula Changed

The original % reduction system has been changed, and defense limit has been increased.

* Hit and Evasion Formula Changed

The stats that increase hit and evasion have increased, and the base numerical value has increased.

* Attack Speed Formula Changed

Because of demand for faster attacking and faster attack speed, the attack speed formula has changed and the upper limit has increased.

* Critical Formula Changed

Criticals have changed from regular attacks that bypass defense to strong damaging attacks. With the changes, we hope that Critical based characters can level on a wider variety of maps.

* Simplified Job Change

First class job change quests have been removed, once you reach the required job level of 10, you can change directly into your desired occupation.

[Additional System Improvements]

* Quest Notice Icons

NPC's that advance or start quests will display on the minimap, and an emoticon will be displayed for the NPC. While at first only new quests will have this feature, eventually all quests will be updated.

* Storage Update

Currently storage is only organized on consumable/equipment/other, but now these types are expanded into consumable/cash items/armor/weapon/ammunition (arrows, bullets, etc)/cards/other. Additionally, you can also chose to sort your storage alphabetically or search your storage.

* Skill Shortcut Window Improvement

The skill shortcut window has been expanded from 3 lines to 4, and you can now display all 4 skill rows at once. Also added is the new quick slot. (The 4th shortcut row and quick slot will be added to Sakray R on June 17th)


* Hotkey and System Command Remapping

In the new Shortcut Key Options Window, you can now remap all your shortcut keys and system commands to whatever key combination you'd like.

* Improved Novice Training Ground

The tutorial portion of the quest has been improved and amusing and easy to understand illustrations added. We hope this will make it a little easier to get into the world of Ragnarok. Also, there is a new 1st job skill trial program, and job change time has also decreased.

* Leveling Tutorial QUests Added

From level 11 to 85, a new series of tutorial quests are added, that guide players to appropriate hunting zones and provide useful rewards.

* User Interface Improvement

Unused shortcuts have been removed, the interface windows have been joined, the size is smaller, and should be easier to use.

* Buff Timers Added

Beside each buff icon is a timer bar that indicates its remaining duration.

* SKill Cooldown and Aftercast Delay Indication

When using a skill, the Cooldown and Aftercast Delay are displayed on the skill shortcut window by graying out skills that cannot be used.

[Additional System Improvements]

Acolyte

[Angelus]
- Angelus skill now increases the status defense granted by your VIT stat.
[Heal]
- The Heal recovery formula is changed.
- The Heal recovery is now influenced by your magic attack power.
- Heal's recovery increases in proportion to your own level, stats, magic attack power, and skill level.
- The amount recovered by Heal is not a fixed amount, and now a range.

Mage

[Energy Coat]
- Now reduces both physical and magical attacks.
[Fire Ball]
- Deals double damage.
[Thunder Storm]
- Each hit now deals 100% magic attack damage.
[Safety Wall]
- Safety wall now has health. When it absorbs enough damage, the wall will break.

Archer

[Arrow Shower]
- Arrow Shower's damage is increased in proportion to the skill level used.

Knight

[Two Hand Quicken]
- Increases your attack speed by a fixed amount.

Priest

[Suffragium]
- Suffragium only reduces the variable portion of skill cast time.
[B.S. Sacrimenti]
- The holy damage dealt by the skill ignores the defense of demon and undead targets.
[Turn Undead]
- Success rate formula has changed.
- On failure, the magic damage dealt is based on your magic attack power.

Wizard

[Meteor Storm]
- The damage dealt by meteor storm has increased. (100% per hit -> 125% per hit)
[Lord of Vermillion]
- The damage dealt by lord of vermillion has increased. (280% matk -> 330% matk)
[Storm Gust]
- The damage dealt by storm gust has increased. (500% matk -> 570% matk)
- The skill now has a chance to freeze on each hit. This chance is 25% at level 1, 70% at level 10.
[Heaven's Drive]
- The damage dealt by heaven's drive has increased. (100% per hit -> 125% per hit)
[Fire Pillar]
- Fire Pillar no longer consumes a gemstone.
- For level 6 ~ 10, the blast radius of the skill is reduced from 7 x 7 to 5 x 5.
[Frost Nova]
- The cast time has been decreased to 0.8 seconds.
- The aftercast delay has been decreased to 0.2 seconds.
- The area of effect is increased to 7 x 7.

Hunter

[Land Mine, Blast Mine, Claymore Trap]
- The damage calculation has changed. It is now influenced by the difference in level.

Blacksmith

[Andrenaline Rush]
- Andrenaline Rush now increases attack speed by a fixed amount.

Crusader

[Shield Boomerang]
- The skill's damage is now influenced by your status attack power, the shield's refine, and the shield's weight.
[Grand Cross]
- The skill now deals both physical and magic attacks.
- The skill is influenced by both physical and magical defense.
[Spear Quicken]
- Spear Quicken now increases attack speed by a fixed amount.
- Each level increases your crit and flee stats.
- Can now be used with a 1 handed spear.
[Holy Cross]
- Holy Cross deals double damage if used with a 2 handed spear.

Monk

[Occult Impaction]
- The skill is influenced by your status attack power, equipment attack power and influenced by the target's defense. The influence of the targets defense is not as large as normal.
[Mental Strength]
- Mental strength no longer modifies your physical or magical defense.
- Mental Strength now reduces all incoming damage to 1/10.
[Fury]
- Instead of preventing SP recovery, Fury decreases SP recovery by 50%.
[Guillotine Fist]
- The skill is based on both status and equipment attack power and influenced by the remaining SP you have.

Assassin

[Venom Splasher]
- The target conditions for using the skill have been removed.
- The attack power has increased.

Sage

[Volcano, Deluge, Violent Gale]
- The skill effect no longer requires character to be of a specific element property to gain the bonus.

Rogue

[Suprise Attack]
- Attack power increased.
- When hitting with Suprise Attack, the target will receive a debuff that increases damage they receive by 20% for a period of time. However, on boss monsters this is only 10% increase. A target can have up to 7 counters.
- The effect of Suprise Attack doesn't stack with the priest skill Lex Aeterna.
[Back Stab]
- The skill now has a high chance to stun in relation to the skill level.

Alchemist

[Axe Mastery]
- Now increases attack power of 1 handed swords.
- The skill is renamed to "Axe and Sword Mastery".
[Acid Terror]
- The skill now deals double damage.
- The damage formula has changed (The skill now also takes into account MATK).
- Acid Terror's attack power is influenced by your status and equipment as well as the target's VIT.
- Acid Terror deals 1/2 damage against boss monsters.
[Bomb]
- The skill now deals damage every 0.5 seconds, down from 1 second.
- The damage formula has changed (the skill now also takes into account MATK).

Bard/Dancer (Translation Note: Sorry, I can't be bothered to look up the iro names for all of these

[Assassin Cross of Sunset]
- The skill now increases attack speed by a fixed amount.
[Poem of Bragi]
- The cast time reduction of Poem of Bragi only reduces the variable cast time.
[Whistle]
- The increase in evasion granted by the skill has been boosted by 3 times.
[Apples of Idun]
- The skill now recovers HP every 5 seconds (from 6 seconds).
- The amount of HP recovered has increased.
[Humming]
- The increase in hit rate granted by the skill has been boosted by 2 times.
[Lullaby]
- The skill effect activates every 4 seconds (down from 6 seconds).
[Drums on the Battlefield]
- The amount of ATK and DEF granted by the skill is increased.
[Ring of Nibellung]
- The amount of defense bypassing damage granted is increased.
- The weapon level limitation of the skill has been removed.

Ninja

[Throw Huuma Shuriken]
- The casting of the skill cannot be interupted.
- The skill has changed from dispersion splash damage (damage is split among targets) to regular splash damage (no damage splitting).
- The skill is now ground targeted.
[Lightening Jolt]
- The skill is now a targeted magic attack instead of a self centered one.
[Flip Tatami]
- Attack power increased by 2x.
- When hitting a target it is now knocked back 4 cells (from 3 ~ 5 cells).
[Haze Slasher]
- SP cost of the skill has changed to 15 sp.
[Shadow Slash]
- SP cost of the skill has changed to 10 sp.
[Killing Strike]
- Instead of being reduced to 1 hp when using the skill, you are reduced now to 1% hp.
- When using Killing Strike while in the Shadow Image status, each remaining hit of Shadow Image increases the damage of Killing Strike.
[Wind Blades]
- The magic attack of the skill is increased from 100% to 150%.

Gunslinger

[Piercing Attack]
- When using the skill with a rifle, the damage increases.
[Gatling Fever]
- The skill now increases attack speed by a fixed amount.
[Crowd Control Shot]
- The cast time of the skill is now un-interuptable.
[Spread Shot]
- The skill is now usable with a grenade launcher.
- The attack power has increased.
[Gunslinger Mine]
- The attack formula has changed.
- The activation range has increased.
- The damage range has increased.

Lord Knight

[Frenzy]
- Frenzy now increases attack speed by a fixed amount.
[Clashing Spiral]
- The skill damage is influenced by Attack Power (Status + Equip) and the weapon's weight.
- The skill can now be cast with 1 handed and 2 handed swords.
- The skill requirements have changed (now only requires spear mastery 5 instead of 10).

Assassin Cross

[Soul Destroyer]
- Soul Destroyer damage comes from both your physical and magical attack power.
- The damage from the skill is reduced both by the targets physical and magical defense.

High Priest

[Assumptio]
- Assumptio has been completely changed. Now it increases your physical and magical defense to 200%.
- Skills and attacks that disregard defense will ignore the effects of assumptio.

High Wizard

[Magic Crasher]
- Magic Crasher now takes both your physical and magical attack power.
- Magic Crasher is only reduced by the target's physical defense.
[Napalm Vulcan]
- SP cost has decreased.
[Gravity Field]
- Damage interval has been decreased from 1 second to 0.5 seconds.

Mastersmith

[High Speed Cart Ram]
- The skill damage is influenced by your attack power (status + equipment) and cart's weight.

Paladin

[Shield Chain]
- Shield Chain's damage is modified by your status attack power, shield weight, and the refine of your shield.

Scholar

[Soul Change]
- The SP transfered from soul change has changed. Now when using the skill both the scholar and the target will mutually split 50% of the total SP.

Stalker
[Counter Instinct]
- The skill no longer requires divest weapon 1 to be learned.

Biochemist
[Acid Bomb]
- Acid Bomb is now influenced by our physical attack power, magical attack power, and the target's vit.
- Acid Bomb can now be reduced by the target's physical defense and magical defense.

so are they implementing this on there main servers now? without having tested all the 3-2 classes or is this just a notice of what they have done and what they are planning on doing on the renewal server? im a bit confused by how they have it worded?

We'll probably get the same thing on iRO too, and I think it's fair. Isn't that the main reason behind Sakray's existence? If everyone got unlimited resets for some time, people would be able to change builds dramatically to level faster, to forge/produce stuff and so on.

And... oh wow, I really didn't expect this update to be so soon. I mean, they're changing everything every week on SakR, MECHANICS STILL SUCK and there are a lot of other things that need to be double-checked. Unless they have already fixed everything and plan to release them next week.

I remember the proposal for the new world having that 10 level limit for monsters vs players. Hooray for being within 10 levels of the monster in order be 100% of the rated experience. When you go over 10 levels from the monster, your exp decreases the further you get.So no more leveling on anubis to 99 for the priests and other people with battlegrounds gear. Anyways, those new world monsters are quite a bit tougher to kill, and do more damage, than the old world monsters.

It doesn't sound like like 3rd class is included, they are probably going to be ep 13.3 or 14. Hopefully iRO gets this soon since it can be independent of any other updates. Heck, this would be enough to bring me back.
Hopefully we'll get a good month to test things on Sakray so we know what to change with the stat/skill reset.
How is this "3rd generation"? Was beta 1st, live 2nd, and renewal 3rd?

I thought you had to be 3rd class to break the level 99 limit. Since 3rd class isn't included (apparently) but they mention the limit has been removed, is that restriction no longer around?

they must be really panicked about RO's future to release this before finishing all the content, like adjusting the bonus's from god gear which have greatly depreciated in the new stat system
