Question: Difference between Valkyrie and Yggdrasil?

So, I quit iRO Valk a couple months before renewal hit and I'm interested in coming back to try everything out. I'm going to be starting from scratch with absolutely nothing. I just have a few questions.

What is the difference between Valkyrie and Yggdrasil? Why did they open another F2P server?

Why are there only three castles open on Yggdrasil?

Should I even play on Yggdrasil? Is it active? It seems like I should just play again and start over on Valkyrie since theres more people there.

Valkyrie was the original free server. After the 3 paid servers merged into Ymir, they created Yggdrasil for renewal testing purposes. When renew was to be released, I believe they wiped Yggdrasil clean and kept it as a new server. (Please correct me if I am wrong on that.) They then simply added the Renewal to Ymir and Valkyrie. As for castles, not 100% sure on that. I know they are talking about opening up new ones soon. Valkyrie has a large ♥♥♥ population and Ymir is going to have alot higher number of god items and MvP cards snice it was never reset. It is honestly a personal call as to what server you want to be on.

Ygg had most of the castles closed because the population on the server was so low that there was almost zero competition for WoE - if you went, you got multiple castles. According to the GMs though, now that Ygg's population is steadily increasing, they are planning on opening the rest of the forts soon.

Ygg is the same pop Ymir used to be. For a while they had less than 50 people on at any time, but free to play actually worked out okay for it.

Thanks for the info guys...its a toss up for me on what server I want to start up on now. I'm heavily leaning towards Yggdrasil as its low population reminds me of when I used to play on Iris when it first opened. If Ygg's population is indeed increasing, even though Dishonru's stats say otherwise, then I'm up for going there. Any more opinions?

Bots. That's the major difference.

for the first few months of ygg, woe was non existent so it was basicly a pvm server. a few months ago they opened 1 castle, with god item pieces disabled from dropping, changed it a few times (valk3->brit3->luina5) before keeping 1 (luina 5), and adding another(payon 4, to make 2 total). so far theyve stated plans to open up all the castles at the end of june.

the difference? valk has people playing on it

Usually ymir people will come and say its all bots playing on valk. Yes there are bots, but once you are 90+ you probably wont see them anywhere other than spam bots in town. There are way more active players on valk.

One of these days the bots will start to annoy people in ygg aswell.

Go Valk. Don't play a small scaled down version of the game lol. Go big or go home. At least play Ymir over Ygg if you want a smaller community.

so is there any sort of community on ygg? thinking of maybe joining or starting a guild, meeting some people and getting into woe when all the castles open. seems like all opinions have been going against ygg so far, lol

Hmmm if you are wanting to join Ymir, I believe you will need to pay to make character since you cant actually create characters on Ymir unless you are VIP status? Alternately you could level up and make you characters on Ygg then do server transfer to Ymir if your unhappy with the size/activeness of Ygg community?

Well you can go for ygg then since you want to join a server with a small community

anyway in terms of the game there is no real difference in the servers at least from the iro web page

Isn't an advantage of Ygg that the economy is still fairly new, so that it has less overpowered equipments / cards and the prices are hopefully a bit lower?

no ygg players responding with their ops and everywhere i look on the official RO forums and here theres no guild recruit, selling/buying or partying threads so i assume its going to be dead. Valk it is until some other people respond I guess.

Go Ygg since it's fairly new. By the time you're already maxed in terms of levels and cash you needn't worry about bots ruining your day with their punk-ass killstealing.

ymir, 4in1 server in regards to god items/mvp cards, not sure bout woe or community as i quit there shortly after the merge
valk, inbetween ygg n ymir in terms of god items/mvp cards, seems to be a decent amount of active people, but a lot more bots than ygg/ymir
